Notes

  • 7-color panel (black, white, red, yellow, blue, green, orange) with dithering
  • Official BOM lists a plain ESP32-WROVER module (4 MB flash, 8 MB PSRAM per Espressif's ESP32-WROVER datasheet), needed for the color framebuffer
  • io.gpio_free=3 DERIVED, not quoted (SPEC-io-power.md §5.3). Vendor free-GPIO page table marks 5 native ESP32-WROVER pins FREE (not tied to internal components): IO2,4,5,25,26 (IO12/13/14 go to the microSD bus, IO15/34/39 are jumper-gated, IO35 reads V_BAT, IO36 is the wakeup button; P0-0..P0-7,P1-0,P1-3..P1-7 on the PCAL6416A expander are also free but excluded here as non-native SoC pads). Subtracting esp32's reserved_pins among the native free set -- strapping {2,5} (2; IO4/25/26 aren't strapping) -- gives 5 - 2 = 3 (remaining: IO4,25,26). Math not vendor-stated; verify before treating as exact.

Verify my board

Reads the connected chip over USB and checks it against what esp-atlas cites for Inkplate 6COLOR — over Web Serial, no backend, nothing leaves your browser.

In-browser verify needs Web Serial: Chrome or Edge on a desktop. Safari, Firefox and phones cannot do it.
