# esp-atlas > A community-maintained, datasheet-verified knowledge base for the entire ESP32 > family (SoCs, modules, dev boards) stored as plain markdown with YAML frontmatter. > Every hard spec cites an official source — if it isn't verified, it isn't stated. > Data is queryable via a search/wizard/ask layer built on the same repo. esp-atlas exists because most ESP32 guides are one person's blog, frozen at publish date, with unverified specs and no way to query them. This repo is the opposite: open data, git-versioned, source-cited, and machine-queryable. Contributions — human or agent — follow search-before-add, copy-template, fill-with-citations, self-validate, then PR. ## Site - [esp-atlas.com](https://esp-atlas.com): the live site — wizard and search on `/`, one page per part at `/parts/` (SoCs, modules, boards), side-by-side `/compare`. - [API](https://esp-atlas.com/api/docs): `GET /api/parts`, `GET /api/parts/{id}`, `GET /api/search?q=&soc=&brand=&type=`, `GET /api/facets`, `POST /api/wizard` — the same records as JSON, every spec with its source. - [sitemap.xml](https://esp-atlas.com/sitemap.xml): every part page, with the date its sources were last verified. ## Docs - [README.md](README.md): project overview, data layout, status. - [AGENTS.md](AGENTS.md): contributor guide for AI coding agents — data model, hard rules, required workflow. - [CONTRIBUTING.md](CONTRIBUTING.md): human contribution guide (same rules as AGENTS.md). - [SPEC.md](SPEC.md): project vision, data model, interface layers, phasing. - [ARCHITECTURE.md](ARCHITECTURE.md): retrieval design — repo-as-database, index build, grounded chat layer. - [INTERFACE-SPEC.md](INTERFACE-SPEC.md): API/CLI/site contracts and milestones. ## Data - [schema/](schema/): JSON Schema contracts (`soc.schema.json`, `module.schema.json`, `board.schema.json`) — the authoritative field list for every record. - [data/](data/): the dataset itself — `socs/`, `modules/`, `boards/`, `brands/`, `companions/`, one markdown file per part, YAML frontmatter + prose. - [templates/](templates/): blank soc/module/board templates to copy when adding a new record — every field commented with what it is and its source requirement. ## Tools - `esp-atlas search ""` (CLI) / `GET /search?q=` (API): search the dataset before adding a record, to avoid duplicates. - `esp-atlas validate ` (CLI) / `POST /validate` (API): validate a record's frontmatter against schema + source-or-omit + inheritance rules before opening a PR. - `python3 scripts/validate.py`: the same validation, run over the whole dataset — the CI gate. ## Optional - [skills/esp-atlas/SKILL.md](skills/esp-atlas/SKILL.md): the contributor workflow as a portable skill doc for agent frameworks. - [LICENSE](LICENSE): code is MIT; data (`data/`, `schema/`) is CC-BY-SA 4.0.
